Traminette
Basics: A French-American Hybrid particularly popular in England, also the East Coast of the United States, but maybe deminishing there.

Comments:

(by County)
  • CARROLL: Easy.
  • CECIL: So far third year plants have done well. We will see how they do under a full crop load this year.
  • GARRETT: Long enough season to produce 22-23 brix nearly every year. Few disease problems. Wine acceptable, though rarely dazzling.
  • MONTGOMERY: My traminette has done very well and makes excellent wine.
  • QUEEN ANNE'S: Very good disease resistance. Minimal crop management, nicely productive, on VSP. Will be planting 3 acres in 2007.

Recommendations:
Cluster thinning is rarely necessary. Some have recommended not grafting if planting on very fertile soils.

Considerations:
Maybe made in several styles from dry to sweet. In warmer areas less skin contact is recommended to reduce problems associated with high pH. Growing awareness among consumers.
